Today i got my act together and finally moved Lyla into Riley's bedroom. We have always wanted them to share a room, but with all the night waking, sickness, teething {its always one thing or another} i couldn't bring myself to do it any sooner. Now Lyla has mostly been sleeping through the night since she turned one, and Riley is a gem, he only calls out if he needs to go to the toilet, we agreed it was time for a change.
My mum is coming from Sydney to stay for the long weekend. Which prompted the big move. Time to get Lyla out of the spare/junk room, and make room for Grandma!
It is very exciting, Riley is especially excited to share his room with his little sister. And so nice to have a big clean out and have all the kids things in one room {mostly} not spread out all over the place. lovely to be able to decorate a bit and put up there sweet love mae wall stickers finally!
First daytime sleep went pretty well, not as long as i had hoped. But they slept so i can't complain. Riley informed me that Lyla was crying so he told her nicely to 'sssshhhhh...' So cute! I feel so proud and happy for them that they seem to be coping well with the change. Only tonight will tell if we made the right decision... So far everything seems fine, there was a little chatting for a while, but it wasn't long before they were both fast asleep. Fingers crossed i don't here any peeps till the morning!!
I put together a few snapshots for you.. a few of there favorite things. They had trashed the place before i got to take one of the whole room!

ReplyDeleteBoth my boys are in the same room, we have no choice as our place is a 2 bedder (until we can afford to extend, which will be a while!)
What a good big bro Riley is and what a sweet little boy being so caring. It's very cute to think of them sleeping peacefully in the same room... I hope it happens that way for you. We've had some hiccups and continue to, but mostly it's good having them together... and great for future bonding! xo

ReplyDeleteOur eldest two girls used to share in Sydney but have their own rooms now. They had a lot of fun sleeping in together and we would often wake to the sounds of them chatting and giggling. gxo
Very nice work again jody. You really do have some talent in decorating/design. Do you work in that area? Perhaps I should hop over and read your about me page :) Hope they are both sleeping well in the room together.
ReplyDeleteThe room looks beautiful! I am hoping that our 2 will share a room once the little one stops feeding overnight. I love the idea of all the kids stuff being in the one room ( and being able to shut the door). Hope they sleep well.

ReplyDeleteI love the wall decals. My boys share a room now that we've moved to a 3 bedroom place as I still wanted them to have a playroom. I'm still not sure it was the right decision as my little B likes to stir his big brother up at sleep time but we've worked through it and I think (touch wood) we may have finally got there. I hope your set up continues with success xx
