Eating Out..

With no plans on Saturday night we decided to head out to our favorite local Japanese restaurant {i'm sure i've talked about it a thousand times before.. but we love it!}  We hadn't taken our kiddies there, only ever had take away or gone on our own, but we were feeling brave and felt like breaking the mold.

They love sushi so how bad could it be?

We got there nice and early with all the oldies, so as to avoid our little ones turning feral, for the sake of others around us and our own sanity. We ordered promptly, an abundance of sushi and little entrees flowed to the table, not to mention a few beverages for ourselves!

To our surprise, our children behaved angelically - who knew!? Now i won't pretend they were perfect, there was lots of silly faces and reminders that we were in a public place, but they stayed seated in there chairs for the full hour and a half we were there, without the slightest protest! Displayed the most impeccable manners. Consumed all of there food and then some. Mess was unavoidable but contained to their immediate areas, no sticky sushi rice flung across the room. Win!

Reward - a bowl of ice cream for them and some nice warm sake for us.

And for you - way too many photos of my little ones eating, but here they are...

We all had so much fun, we may very well just take them out again next week!

Do you ever take your little ones out for dinner?

  1. cute! i used to work in hospo and its so refreshing to see you taking your kids out for 'real' food.. so many would ask us if we had a kids menu - ie fries; which we didn't as the owner didn't believe in 'dumbing' food down for children. lovely pictures! x

  2. Gorgeous photos.

It's the best when the kids behave when dining out, isn't it! It's the small things that make me happy now :)

  4. Beautiful photos and what a great night it sounded like! I would SO love my boys to behave like that when we go out at dinner time... maybe they need to watch your two angels in action! They're actually not too bad, but we do avoid dinner out these days. Lunches are a better option ;o)

  5. Love these photos, they are just gorgeous!!

We have always taken our children out to dine from a very young age...the sooner they get used to it the better.

  7. We do and it's always fun - but sometimes more stressful than others! We always take a busy pack to try to keep them occupied and somewhere like a sushi place is perfect because it doesn't take long before you start eating.

I think your children are at prime eating-out stage... between crazy and restless. Perfect! x

  8. So cute! We actually took our kid to Japanese restaurant last night too. I love it but I think it's lucky (and embarrassing) that we're fast eaters. I think it's an unreal thing to expose them to. And how fun for them. Bowls of ice cream, yum! Kellie xx

  9. The food looks yummy and the kids so cute! We don't take our boys out much these days. Our eldest (just turned two) has been incredibly active since he started walking at 8 months old! Sometimes he's great at a restaurant.. and sometimes he wants out of his chair and causes a fuss! Oh well.. :)

  10. We do take them out and it is a 75% hit rate I reckon but as you did, we go early and if it all goes pear shaped we wolf down our food and do the bolt..no harm in trying xx

  11. Aww, you have the cutest little ones. Yes, we used to and it could be incredibly stressful sometimes! They're much bigger now and it's always a happy occasion - but goodness, there were some crazy moments there for a while!

  12. OMG I'm starving now! I can't get my kids to touch sushi. My husband and I love it, but they won't even try.

Your kids are adorable! Love that first pic. :)
