Happy Campers

We headed off to Phillip Island over the weekend for our first little camping trip as a family. Its my not perfect idea of a weekend getaway, but the little man had been nagging for weeks {I think Saturdays with Dad and the tent in the lounge room had put the idea in his head and he now wanted to do the real thing.} To be honest I wasn't too keen on the idea, but I was out numbered. I decided I was going to do it for them, I wouldn't moan and complain as I usually would have. I wanted to make the most of this little adventure and make it one for us all to remember. To my surprise, it wasn't at all as bad as I had imagined it would be. The weather wasn't great but the kiddies had an amazing time, we all did, it was so nice to be by the ocean, to run and play on the beach, to watch them explore and enjoy the adventure together.

I think this was the first of many camping trips. And that makes me happy.

What did you get up too over the weekend?

Do you ever go camping?

Happy Monday.

  2. beautiful pictures Jody! I love how sometimes you get pleasantly surprised by experiences. I go camping a lot (cheapest accomodation, haha) - but I so understand with children it's quite a bit more of a mission (understatement?).. I used to run preschool 'storytime'/makebelieve sessions at a museum and the camping themed one was so popular. So many of those children had never been camping and so desperately wanted to.. good on you for helping make your little man's dream come true. x

  7. Lovely photos! My little ones are itching to go camping too, but so far have only made it as far as the lawn in the backyard. One day, definitely. Great to hear you had such a relaxing weekend! xx

  8. Oh what stunning pics Jody, they are really beautiful. Made me keen to go camping and I am NO camper! I do love the idea of being so close to nature though and not having to worry about anything remotely technological. I do like to get back to basics now and then. Looks like you've started a lovely tradition :o) xo

  10. You make me want to go camping. I've always put it off because I think it would be too much work with the girls - but maybe I should re-consider. Looks like you had such a lovely time. :)

  13. What beautiful photos. Looks like you all had a blast and at such a stunning spot too. I'm desperate to take the boys camping. We used to do it a lot before kiddies came along. I think we'd need quite a lot more supplies with kids in tow.

  14. It's been years since I went to Phillip Island. Glad you enjoyed it. Nothing worse than feeling trapped all weekend. The photos are gorgeous, especially the two sunset shots and the one looking up at your boy ti the wavy clouds in the sky. Not sure we'll go camping. It might be famous last words but I'm game to try. I think hubby would prefer his creature comforts. We'll see when the bubs are a bit older. I'd definitely like a mini-break somewhere though. A changeofscenery would be lovely.
