Toilet training begins...

We are starting the toilet training journey with Lyla. I already know it's going to be a long one. But that's ok. I know it will take great time and patience. But I know she is capable. She is ready, we are ready.

Riley is coaching her, offering her much support and encouraging her. But now I just need to convince my stubborn girl that sitting down to wee is a much easier option for her.

Wish me luck!

I would love to hear any tips or tricks you may have used?

  1. Good luck! I keep thinking about toilet training my 2 year old son but I don't think I am ready for the mess and hassle, it seems by far the most daunting task of parenting yet!

  2. Oh, I wish I had a better tip than the one I'm about to give. But for us, it was all about bribery. Marshmallows, primarily... Xx

  3. My daughter was the slow one in our household, with the boys it was easy to say 'make bubbles in the toilet and have a smartie every time you do'. With her..she just didn't want to let go of the nappies..hehe!..and she couldn't see any bubbles while doing it in the loo. Good luck!

  4. We're in the midst of it now. One of my girls is pretty much trained, the other won't even begin - the whole thing is freaking her out entirely. So I'm congratulating myself on a job...half done...

  6. Haha, oh dear, of course, if she is copying big bro it will be interesting for all involved! We have just commenced a very relaxed introduction to toilet training Felix too. He is very ready, just a little bit tentative with sitting on the pot/toilet... but we had a breakthrough with it yesterday. Now, just to bite the bullet and start putting undies on him in the day... waiting for the weather to warm up a bit first. Good luck Jody, I'll be right there with you in spirit xo

  7. Those photos are so cute!!
I have no advice I'm afriad. We tried a couple of times with Little Miss and she just wasn't ready until BAM! she woke one day and decided she wanted to wear knickers, and here we are. Fully trained. I let her lead the way with it and it worked really well for us. Good luck! xx

  8. My professor told us his mother used M&M's. You should give it a shot.

  9. Very Exciting times. My number 3 would only do wees on the grass for the first few weeks, no way she was going near the toilet, then one day (with jelly beans as an incentive) it clicked and she hasn't looked back!
    Good Luck!

  12. hehe I never thought about the girls copying the boys..! I sort of have the opposite problem with cole, he copied ruby so sits down and only stands up occasionally.. I am trying to get him to stand up! advice? ahhh whatever works :) for R&C, when they showed me all the signs they were ready, I committed to four days at home in a row, undies all day, take them to the loo every half an hour - yes every half hour!! - and keep cleaning up the puddles.. took both of them roughly 48hrs to click. good luck! x
