Sammy Sea Patrol

We recently received this sweet WOW Sammy Sea Patrol toy to try out. New toys are always loved in our place and this one was particularly special, it gave us the opportunity to open the conversation with the kids about water safety. Summer is fast approaching and with water culture in Australia being such a big thing, I felt it was a good time to talk about water safety skills. We discussed, role played and most importantly had lots of fun!

This new toy from WOW includes a lifesavers jeep, life ring, rotating tower and two lifesavers whose names are Cody and Summer, of course. It is suitable for children as young as 18 months, is made from toughened high grade materials and like all WOW toys has a 10 year warranty!

To help spread awareness and share the love, I have a Sammy Sea Patrol to give-away to one lucky reader!

To enter, follow Lemon Rhodes via google connect or facebook and leave me a comment below telling me what your favourite thing about summer is.

The winner will be drawn randomly one week from today!

To find out more details about Sammy visit Kidstuff.

{this is a sponsored post, I was given the toy to review, all opinions are my own.}

* Winner as drawn by random is lucky comment number 13 - Bec!

The work from home project

We've been making some pretty big life changing decisions around here. After recent events, we've decided that working from home would be a good thing for me to do, it will give me flexibility to work around the children, at night and make some extra money. I have a few other projects in motion at the moment too, I want to keep all my options open. But for me, hair styling is something I love and couldn't imagine not doing.

I am so super excited to have my own little space all set up!*

Melbourne friends, if you need your hair done let me know!

xx jody

*thanks to my awesome hubs for doing all the hard work for me! you're the best!

Joes

This time last week I was out shooting Joes bar in St Kilda, that place has such a great atmosphere and super delicious food. My first proper shoot. I was so nervous at the begging but loved every minute. So much fun! Closely followed up by a product launch that I shot as well, phew! It was a big day!

Keep your eyes out for my pics, I'm not quiet sure where they might end up...

Oh, I am so loving not working on Saturdays any more. So much more time to get things done and lets not forget all the extra time with my gorgeous little family of pirates!

Happy weekend!!

Red bucket

A beautiful day here, apart from the hail and thunderstorms this morning, but thats Melbourne for you.

The kids are tired and grumpy and I'm feeling the same. Some pyjama/garden action seemed to help, but I'm looking forward to escaping tonight to catch up with some friends for some great food and adult conversation! We've got a busy weekend here and I'm hoping the sun continues to shine.

What have you got planned for the weekend?

Happy Friday!!

Creative Mess

The entire week has been like this, Riley spending his days drawing, colouring, cutting, sticking and creating, all on his own. Yesterday was an alien theme, he thought of completely on his own, aliens were drawn and stuck to various spaceships, he used things he found around the house, my takeaway coffee cup, cardboard and egg cartons.

It amazes me to watch his newly discovered creativity, unguided and unaided by me. Just his own ideas and imagination. My heart swells with love and pride at his new found skills, its simply a joy to behold.

On the downside my mantel looks like this, its the perfect place to display artworks, apparently. And my floor is covered in little snipped triangles, scraps and off cuts. But I think its worth it.

Creativity or mess?

Saturday + Sunday

It's was the first whole weekend we have had at home together for a very long time. We are hombodies, so chores were done, big jobs that had been needing to be done got ticked off the to-do list, we pottered in the garden together, visited a local fair, enjoyed the glorious sunshine, played in the garden, it was warm enough even for the children to play with the hose in the afternoon sun, we drank home brewed beer and made plans for our future, we watched the water turn our poor lawn to mud, but that was fun too.

Everybody loves muddy puddles.

Times are changing...

Big things happening here this week. I made the huge decision to leave my job after twelve years and ended a toxic friendship. Both bold moves, and most unlike me. Time to make a change, to do something different. To do something for me and my family. I'm just not sure what yet. My head hurts with ideas and stress. So much to think about.

Thank goodness it's Friday and I don't have to get up and go to work tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to spending the extra day with my little family. And maybe a few celebratory drinks tonight.

Happy weekend lovelies.

weekend {point + shoot}

* A most unpleasant Saturday at work
* An afternoon with Uncle Bert
* Costco {I love that place}
* A walk around Harbour town Docklands
*  Sleep over with Uncle Bert
* Sunday morning pancakes, the best. But would have been better if we remembered to buy maple syrup from Costco.

Here's to a good week!

{joining Lou for some point + shoot action}
