Nappy Free
Its official, our house is now a completely nappy free zone. Although she resisted initially, two weeks on Miss Lyla has gone and toilet trained herself - both day AND night. Of course with obvious encouragement and help from us, and lets not forget her personal coach and cheering squad - Riley. {and why wouldn't he be, when there was a treat in it for him too with her every success!}
There is some sadness too though, for me mostly - my little baby is growing up, far too quickly. It feels like only yesterday that I held her for the very first time. I barely remember her as a baby, I foolishly wished those difficult first months away and now as though right before my eyes she has become this little girl. Its bittersweet really.
I knew once she 'got it' she would love the freedom and independence that comes with learning to use the toilet. She has been dry every night for the last two weeks and hasn't had any accidents.
She is so proud of herself and we couldn't be prouder of her.

Hooray for nappy free zones! I'm still struggling with the evening training... Accidents happen :) Congrats Jody and Miss Lyla! It's a wonderful feeling! Love the bling...

Oh WOW! Good girl Lyla! That is brilliant being dry at night too. Well done to you Mama as well. I have been a little too relaxed on the toilet training front with Felix. But I'm about to start an intensive couple of weeks at getting him out of day nappies at least. Angus didn't take long at all, so I'm hoping he will be the same.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos of your big girl. I completely relate to wishing away all the hard days and then suddenly wanting to hold onto their babyness just a little bit longer. Very bittersweet xoxo
Welldone Miss Lyla - we are not quite nappy fee yet still have wee George in them. Tom was easy took a couple of weeks and we have never had any night accidents. I hope it will be that easy with George when the time comes - they are all so different are'nt they?
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Yay Miss Lyla! xxx
ReplyDeleteFor the win!! Good work Lyla (and Riley, and Mum and Dad too!!)
ReplyDeleteCute pics.xo
Oh wow Jody, that is really really great. REALLY. Especially as I am in the throes of training Scout, which is not going...well. I'm usually a pretty ambitious person but for now all I want to be able to say is what you just did 'our house is a nappy free zone!' At least for a few months...;)
ReplyDeleteLyla, you're a super star!
Jody, your next mission is a post of advice for how to even make it possible to have a 'nappy free home'. I have read plenty to try with P with NO LUCK. But man I want to make the declaration that we have a partially nappy free zone. Something about nappy double duty makes me cringe with a newbie nearly on our doorstep! xx
ReplyDeleteAshley, I always found they would do it when they were good and ready. Our oldest four took to toilet training like ducks to water and were out of nappies by two but low and behold Kaizer just would not have a bar of it. He decided in August, 4 months before he turned three he was ready and we did not look back. Piper will get there in her own time :)

What a cutie, well done! we are not having much success here.
ReplyDeletego lyla! that's so wonderful jody, even it means your baby days are officially over :( great job, family! xx
ReplyDeleteI had three in nappies for a short time here and now we are down to one... It's the best feeling apart from the growing up part!! Good work Lyla! Sam x
ReplyDeleteWell done! It IS a bittersweet moment isn't it.
ReplyDeleteThe other day I bought nappies for Ted AND the new baby about to arrive. And it hit me, I'll have 2 kids in nappies again. Am hoping Ted will train himself very soon, maybe it will just magically happen overnight?!
xx
Go Lyla! what a clever girl you are :)
