Cold Callers
One of my most disliked things is people cold calling. The ones that turn up to your place unannounced, when your still in your pajamas, the house is a mess with yesterdays weetbix still stuck to your kitchen bench and underwear strewn all over the bathroom floor. You know the ones?
Why do they do it? Do they purposefully want to catch us out like that? Ten minutes notice is all I would need to put on some clothes, brush my teeth and do a quick sweep through. Is it too much to ask?
I have even pretended to not be home in some instances. Especially if its someone I don't know very well. Is that bad? Don't get me wrong I am generally a clean person, I'm untidy, but clean. And when you add kids into the mix, well then there is just mess.
Do you cold call? Am I nuts?

Oh Jody, I LOATHE them. Since mobile phones were invented, there should be NO ONE "popping around". It's one of my biggest pet hates. Thankfully, it doesn't happen to often. :) xx
ReplyDeleteYes! everyone has mobile phones there is no excuse! xo
DeleteOh I don't like the cold call either....my Dad & his wife do it ALL the time and I detest it. There are few people I'd be happy to see unannounced!
ReplyDeleteOh it's the worst! I had another one this morning!! x

ReplyDeleteOMG YES!! My mother-in-law does this ALLLLL the time!!!! But seriously...why does she NEVER cold call when my house IS actually clean?!
ReplyDeleteI know it's always when the house is a mess!! x
DeleteI don;t cold call personally, but it happens so frequently at our place (we live basically in the CBD and it happened tonight actually!) that I tolerate and even sometimes love when someone shows up unannounced. Although it does always tend to happen when the house is a HUGE mess!
ReplyDeleteIt happened to me again this morning! Maybe I need to relax a little!? x
Deletedepends on who the persone is, if it's someone very, very close then fine but otherwise it's just bad manners!
ReplyDeleteThere are very few people who I don't mind doing it, very few! x
DeleteI hate pop ins!!!! Esp the electricity companies....they just dont leave!!!! xx
ReplyDeleteSo annoying! xo
DeleteI sit on the fence on this one.
ReplyDeleteI hate that life is so scheduled. But at the same time I totally agree with the 10 minute rule. We all have mobiles, it's not hard to call and say 'what you up to' and if the opportunity knocks say ''l'll be round in 10'
Some of the best times are spontaneous. But you don't want to make people feel uncomfortable either.
Good point Mandy, spontaneous catch ups are often the best! x
DeleteNO, you're not nuts, but I'm with Mandy on this one... I think the spontaneous pop in can be lovely sometimes.. You must hate me for turning up that day after work! x
ReplyDeleteI just assumed it was an unwritten law that you don't just 'rock up' at someone's place unannounced... unless it's your parents or people equally as close in your life. Thankfully, I don't have anyone who really does that to me, maybe because all my friends are also aware of the unwritten law, haha. Nothing worse than feeling awkward and embarrassed by your messy house... and yes, 9 times out of 10 my place is a big old 'clean' mess ;) xo
ReplyDeleteI thought it was unwritten law too, but it is happening to me more and more lately! xo
DeleteI don't like that either - people should at least call, everyone has mobiles these days! I've reduced many pop ins by moving interstate, and having a high fence with a tricky lock.

Hmmm, maybe i need a new fence! :) x
DeleteI've been guilty of pretending I'm not home and hiding at the back of the house. Also, sometimes ... I don't answer the phone when it rings.
